The team at Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok is dedicated to minimising our environmental impact, enhancing our guest experience, and reinforcing our commitment as a responsible member of the community. Through various eco-friendly practices and community engagement, we strive to reduce waste, paper consumption, and our overall carbon footprint. Simultaneously, we have strengthened our food responsibility practices by improving waste monitoring, supporting food redistribution initiatives, and championing locally sourced, sustainably produced ingredients.

Green Globe

Our Green Globe, Certification is the premier global sustainability programme for the tourism industry. It embodies the 17 goals that serve as a universal call to action aimed at eradicating poverty, safeguarding our planet, and ensuring that all individuals can enjoy peace and prosperity.

Since joining the Green Globe programme, we have actively focused on several key areas related to social and environmental initiatives. We prioritise sustainable infrastructure, conserve energy and water, utilise locally sourced products, offer climate-friendly menu options, ensure a proper waste management are in place, and engage in community corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Our commitment to sustainability permeates every aspect of our guests’ experiences and our resort operations.

 LEED

Our LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification is a globally recognised rating system that verifies our building’s sustainability performance, demonstrating our commitment to energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental responsibility.

Our initiatives include the use of solar power systems in our buildings, upcycled carpets made from 202,850 recycled PET plastic bottles, on-site electric vehicle charging stations, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures that reduce water usage by 45%, and LED lighting systems to minimise energy consumption.

FitWel

Our fitwel three-star certification is a globally recognised, evidence-based certification that demonstrates our commitment to the health and well-being of those who live, work, and visit our buildings. The three-star rating represents the highest level of Fitwel accreditation and is based on our efforts surrounding the seven Health Impact Categories (HICs) that contribute to the Fitwel building and site certification.

Our commitments include adhering to the ASHRAE ventilation standard to reduce indoor exposure to PM2.5 by 7.5%, maintaining a smoke-free environment, providing dedicated green spaces, utilising floor-to-ceiling windows to allow natural daylight, and offering healthy, climate-friendly menus.

Klimato

In collaboration with Klimato, a pioneering partner of Accor, we introduces carbon labels on all menus, revolutionising the dining experience by providing guests with invaluable insights into the environmental impact of their choices. These labels, indicating Low, Medium, or High carbon footprints,  empower guests to make informed decisions that resonate with their sustainability values. Leveraging advanced climate data derived from lifecycle assessments, Klimato meticulously calculates the carbon footprint of each meal, shedding light on the environmental ramifications of every culinary creation.

 

Furthermore, we implement several sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact during meetings and events. Some of these practices include:
