Traditional Thai summer dish available for limited time at Khum Hom

As the summer heat is in full swing, Khum Hom restaurant presents Thailand’s iconic seasonal dish, ‘Khao Chae‘, to help you cool off. The dish will be available during lunchtime from 20 March to 8 May 2024.

Khum Hom’s Khao Chae, curated by Chef Ian Kittichai, features premium ingredients from different regions of Thailand, including Jasmine rice from Surin, Chu-tin scented candles, Marian Plum from Nakhon Nayok, coconut sugar from Pleanyondtar Community Enterprise, Samutsongkram, shrimp paste from Pattalung, and salted egg from Surat Thani. All ingredients are hand-picked to ensure an aromatic, delightful dish, and an authentic Thai summer dining experience for all Khum Hom’s diners.

The set menu comprises four parts: par-boiled rice, jasmine-scented water, ice cubes, and traditional side dishes. It is accompanied by a summer dessert: sweet yellow Marin plum and kaffir lime in scented light syrup to help you cool down.

Fun fact: Khao Chae, which means ‘rice soaking in water,’ originated in Petchaburi province and became popular in the Thai royal court during the reign of King Rama V. It is regarded as one of the most complex recipes showcasing the court lady’s cooking skills.
